Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

More lions

Today we had an "easy" drive thru the south part of Queen Elizabeth park and continued on to Ishasha Camp for lunch - we were now less than 5 km to the Congo. One of our group wanted to drive over the border but our guide nixed that. I thot we'd have a box lunch at the camp but it was a gorgeous open air pavilion with a 3 course sit down lunch. Oh my. Then we went looking for those lions again and found a pride of 7 in an acacia tree. Dad actually stays on the ground nearby but mon and the kids, including 2 males who are almost ready to be kicked out, were mostly sleeping -looking uncomfortable to me.
The road continued on south and got worse and worse til we found ourselves stuck behind a huge truck leaning way over in the mud and blocking all. There was a grader nearby (!) so he managed to make a way around for us. Well that would have been a good blip too, but the black maned tree climbing lions lions are special to see and I liked this one with parts of 3 cats in it.( maybe. 4 cats....)
Arrived at Buhoma lodge in the impenetrable forest national park late afternoon ( with bruises from all the bumping in the land cruiser!) What a delightful spot this is - so lush and green-- tent cabins and a charging station in the main area where there is wifi! Otherwise no electricity. There was a hot water bottle in our beds when we got back from dinner!
Tomorrow is the big day when we go gorilla trekking!
It will be nice ( I hope) to walk and not ride in that car !)
