Cerne Abbas

Another sunny day so we set off with the dog in search of lunch and a walk!
We took the Dorchester road and turned off at Cerne Abbas, a village which lies in a secluded valley, surrounded by hills. The village is best known for the ancient and famous Cerne Giant, cut into a hillside.
This has been a favourite place for many years.
We had lunch at the Royal Oak, a seemingly tiny pub as you enter, but it goes back a long way! Dogs were welcome (she was given a Bonio) and we started with a shared Tapas, followed by the most delicious turkey and gammon pies, with a wonderful selection of vegetables!
Afterwards we changed into our wellies and went for a walk through fields, turning back towards the old abbey and the village.
We took the lower road back through Minterne Magna and Lyonsgate; it was all looking very beautiful!
