La Palma, Canary Islands

Bananas

Had a little trip down to our nearest coast today, a place called La Fajana de Garafia. You always have to identify which La Fajana it is because there are several La Fajanas on the island.
But this one is quite different to any other because it was the only port across the whole of the north coast in the old days. Now, it is an almost abandoned village with only 11 people living there. No ships or boats land there any more because there is a much 'better' port around the corner in the north east.

It only takes 12 minutes in the car from where we live - or one hour on foot as it is a descent of 500 metres.

I love to go there and will jump at the opportunity or any excuse. Today there was (almost) no excuse or reason. So we went anyway.

One of the lovely things about the trip is that, having parked the car (usually there are no other cars), then you walk through a banana plantation to get down to the beach.

Here is a photo of the wet stuff - the awesome atlantic click
