Weekly visit

This is Anna our chairperson, with Harisen and Robert, members of our Malawi Board, looking at progress on the farm.
This was a new plan from our last board meeting that there would be regular checks on each of our projects to look at how everyone is managing their targets.
In the next few days we are expecting the final inspection of our fruit tree propagation unit and they are looking to see if its at its best. We expect six inspectors, coming on behalf of Ministry, coming from various fields of fruit production, commercial and academic.
Our guys are most excited at the prospect of recognition for what they have achieved to date, but also looking for help and advice to enable them to push-on and be better.
We all realise that we are at the beginning of this journey, but have big plans for international linkages. Wow, they scare me!!!!. Can I tell you that none of then have much formal education, one, Robert has finished Secondary school and some never got to go to school at all.
AND they will become part of a very small group, certified by the Ministry for Agriculture and Food Security.
We won't count out chickens yet, but it's looking good.
We will have about 12,000 seedlings this year with a plan for up to 25,000 next year. People like CADECOM, World Vision and ICRAF are interested in buying, but the ministry would appear to want them all.
Not a bad result for the small fry.
