Y Mynyddoedd Duon (Black Mountains)

We took my mother-in-law on a trip this afternoon, to look at the local sights south of Abergavenny. We drove up the little road from Govilon above Clydach and its gorge, that eventually comes out by Llyn Pen-ffordd-goch (Keeper's Pond). It has excellent views north, and where the road becomes fenceless, we stopped to see the view properly; this is it. The weather was a little nondescript, after the last few glorious days. We then went to Blaenavon Heritage Centre for afternoon tea. Two coffees, one fruit tea and three pieces of cake for less than a tenner; excellent value and really good cakes. Puts Edinburgh prices to shame. We then drove back and took the high road over the flanks of the Blorenge and back to Abergavenny. A satisfying trip.
