Great Barrier Reef

Wonderful trip out by high speed catamaran to a pontoon on the Great Barrier Reef. This was a large construction with various stages for diving, snorkelling, semi-submersible trips out on to the reef and jetty for boat transfer to helipad.

We donned our Lycra suits (very thin wet-suit type things, not the Strictly Come Dancing variety) to protect us from stingers and sunburn, and spent some time snorkelling. Then changed in readiness for our helicopter ride over the reef.

KK is looking very much the part here in his headset; it was a marvellous flight which ended all too quickly.

After lunch back on the pontoon, we had a go in the submersible to see the coral formations and sea life, including a couple of turtles, parrot fish and we found Nemo!
