Road drill

I've been stalking this baby Masked Lapwing for the best part of two weeks and, for fear I may never see it again, I'm posting today's best effort, lacking though it is. I believe the nest was on the grass reserve across the street from us and close to the busy main road. There would have been three or four eggs, I suspect; all but one - or the tiny chicks - must have been lost to predators, despite the characteristic diligent protective manoeuvres of the parent birds.
