Tufted ducks

A quick swim this morning and an even quicker walk up to the Forth and Clyde Canal. Today I was lucky to see some tufted ducks. They are migratory and I have read that they have shifted their wintering areas north-eastwards due to Europe's changing climate. Therefore more end up in Finland and Sweden than here. However it does breed in the UK but numbers increase in winter because some birds come here from Iceland.

It is black on the head, neck, breast and back and white on the sides, although only one bird here has white side feathers. Maybe the others have yet to develop them. You may just be able to make out their small crests and yellow eyes. The water was dark and choppy so I have used a poster filter and pepped up the colour somewhat.
