St Andrew's Party with Phil & Aly

At the Royal Concert Hall to hear the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland with Phil Cunningham and Aly Bain. A full sound here, playing Phil Cunningham's "Cathcart". Perhaps a more sombre occasion this year, with Aly dedicating every note played this evening to those involved in the tragedy in our city.

The evening began with a minute of silence, to remember those who died late last night in the Clutha Vaults Helicopter Crash. An hour or so before the event, the news came that so far eight people have died. The two police officers and pilot in the helicopter, and five in the bar. Fourteen are being treated for very serious injuries.

The city is stunned, flags at half mast. A significant area around the crash site is cordoned off. So many tributes being paid, and praise for those who ran towards the incident to help, risking their own lives. Regular news updates on TV and radio, with changes to the planned schedules.
