About to Burst

Well summer is finally here, officially that is. The last month of the year is always the craziest, with more social functions and things to organise than I dare to think about.

It's also the month when our large flax plants (phormium tenax) around the property spring into life. Last year the number of blooms were down, but this year it's looking much better with lots of fronds like this ready to pop. There's plenty of bellbirds around waiting their turn too, so hopefully I'll be able to grab some shots of the gorgeous korimakos up to their necks in sweet flax nectar.
