Mont Serrat / Santos

Mont Serrat is one of the stony hills in Santos. One can get to the top of the hill (157 meters above sea-level) by stairs or by a cable-car. On top there is a small church, dedicated to virgin of Montserrate, which according to folklore, saved the people from Santos from looters. Also one can find the old casino, which building nowadays is used for marriages and exclusive parties.
From the top of the old casino building there is an excellent view to the port of Santos (on the estuary side) including all ship movements in the port and to the beaches on the other side. Santos is localized on a peninsular. If weather allows, the mountain ridge of Serra do mar can be seen.
