Hydriomena furcata

Went mothing on campus this evening with J. Not too many species about but we did find both light and dark morphs of Sabulodes aegrotata (a species whose beauty is potentially overlooked in the face of its destructively prolific numbers) as well as this horny beast whose name I still do not know. The species pictured above was flapping around my porch light when we got home. After scouring the internet I determined it's got to be a July Highflyer, a species with much color variation but very distinctly patterned bands on the forewings. This my first green moth, something I've been aching to see ever since I joined this whirlwind mothathon.
