At Ross: Siverbell at the Centre for the Dull...x

A pop up art gallery is not something that you would expect to find in Ross on Wye. The 'out there' gallery house, named "The centre for the dull" is an unexpected pleasure to muse around.

Chris Brick fills the old mill with collectives. Objects placed, filled, canvasses, sometimes controversially, but mostly thought provoking. Its a great place to have a creative centre. In fact, galleries and creative centres of any kind are exactly what Ross and Herefordshire needs. Its a shame that this one will close down in a months time. Its due to be converted into another pizzeria.

I find the closure and lack of funding in art and creative centres hard to take. Its ironic to wander into the 'Centre for the Dull" after wandering through Ross hight street full of commercialistic Christmas offerings. Art gives us perspective in a world of same..ism, an escape from globalism, multinational companies.

Chris's assistant, pictured above and beautifully named, 'Silverbell' decorates or as I call it, wraps furniture. We talk about Art, the impending closure, and the relevance of Art. They are a clever couple. I hope their art survives the commercialist wave that is washing them away. If I had the money, Id open a gallery, workspace, and cafe....

but I don't......x
