The van Brienenoord bridge seems to be the biggest bridge in Holland with a total length of 1320 meters (4330 feet) and 24 meters high to allow tall ships into the Port of Rotterdam.

I lived on the island of IJsselmonde for some time after the first bridge was opened in 1965. In 1990 they opened a twin bridge right next to it to cope with the 250.000 cars passing over it daily.

Recently I saw Tiebreaker / Blipart made a great shot from a little beach at the foot of the bridge and decided I wanted to make this 'selfie' there as a personal childhood memory.

Such a strange effect: some notice mountains in the foreground making me huge and the bridge small. An unexpected optical illusion.
