Beside the village green .. ..

.. .. in this nearby village is a former alms house, Montagu's hospital, which is now a private residence. The building dates from 1611 and is reputed to be one of the finest smaller houses of this period in the country. There is an inscription above the door way "What Thou Doest, Do it in Faith" and over it is a painted square with a sundial and Montagu coat of arms with the date 1631.
Another dismal grey day that does little to inspire us, hence the history lesson from the "emergency blip folder". Sorry!
