Copenhagen and Me.

The Carlsberg Way

Copenhagen 1847;
Herre Jakobsen had invented beer, he was rightly proud and needed a name for his new wonder. Seeing his son sledging down his favourite mountain, Herre Jakobsen called the mountain after his son......Carl.

.....Now, what to call that beer?

[Berg = Mountain]

This is that mountain. (Denmark is a little country, with low expectations but high hopes.)

Inheriting his fathers business and his, somewhat fanciful imagination, Carl set about building. Not just the factory but the art gallery and numerous other civic endeavours (including "The" Little Mermaid). And always with the premise that just because it's practical it doesn't have to be ugly.
