In The Garden #2

Apparently, cotoneaster is related to hawthorn (Crataegus), firethorn (Pyracantha), photinia (Photinia) and rowan (Sorbus). Mine is covered in berries at the moment and looks quite good in the rare moments when it can catch the sun. No such luck on Thursday.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Tom Scott - Today (recorded 19 September 1967, Los Angeles CA)
(from The Honeysuckle Breeze)
Not everything by Jefferson Airplane was an acid-drenched revolutionary anthem. Marty Balin wrote this Surrealistic Pillow ballad in a failed attempt to meet Tony Bennett who was in the studio next door. I didn't know anyone had covered the song until this week when I came across this 1967 sax-heavy MOR treatment from Tom Scott's debut album, in pre-LA Express days. The vocals are by the California Dreamers.
