Miracle of the wine and cheese

Ten minutes before this photo, the 28 people in our bridge club had been competing to see who would win on the night.

But as the last night before Christmas, bridge was cut short, the tables were re-arranged, and tablecloths and wine and biscuits and cheese and mince pies were produced. It always seems a miracle that sober card players create such a wonderful social event is such short time.

I claim no artistic merit in this photograph. It is simply a record. But this journal is precisely that, so no apologies. But when I look back on this in a year's time, it will remind me of the good friends who were there to share the goodwill that this time of year brings.
