Mooring no.7

Yesterday we started with the installation of the 7th out of 16 mooring lines. Every line will take approximately 24 hours. It is a time consuming job where the Bylgia is acting as a so called smart buoy. It means that the polyester segments of the mooring is not allowed to touch the seafloor. Mud will penetrate the line resulting in unwanted internal friction. So we're connected at a depth of 1600 m to the mooring and keep her free of the seafloor with the Balder moving towards the platform and connecting the bitter end to the platform chain. Then the line will be tensioned on the platform after we can release the connection by means of our ROV. Here you'll see the rigging transferred to our deck with a polyester segment in the background.
