bloody slugs. not only do they eat the leaves of the chilli plant outdoors into a lacework, they also ate one of the sodding chillis, too!! it's a bit cool up here outdoors, so i don't think they were going to ripen like these ones from my dad's greenhouse (despite being plants from the same batch), but i had hoped for a handful of green chillis to cook with. bah. i've redoubled the slug pellets in the hope of stiffing the wee beggars now...

had a few grim days this week (crossed wires didn't help - i was trying to get back to normality, the other party was leaving a cooling off period; what happened was i was wondering what the hell was going on and why i was getting no replies to texts and getting mad. same old) so it was nice to get up this morning and know that a) it was a rare saturday not working b) i was spending at least part of it with my parents and part of that part would be in the garden, always therapeutic and c) it was the start of a whole week off work! yippee!!

tomorrow we're heading north for a few days, i'll backblip on my return - castles, gardens, etc again, but possibly windswept with gray skies rather than sweltering in sunshine as were gardens on our june trip. i've a hell of a fortnight coming at work when i get back so this is so needed in terms of charging up the batteries, as well as not having had more than a couple of days off together since june and thus needing to relax. more holiday, less work is what i keep promising myself, tho it never seems to work like that!
