This is the the Theatre Royal de Marrakech, home of the Opera and Symphony. We pooped into the foyer for a look and were taken to the auditorium by a friendly attendant.
The theatre is undergoing a complete renovation and all that is left is the concrete shell, plus a few random objects lying around: A bed (pictured), bicycle, rotary hoe and a few other objects, all of which had become multi coloured works of art by some mysterious Jackson Pollock, as had some of the walls.
I took the photo from where the stage will be, currently a huge hole with doors leading off to dressing rooms and the like.
On the other side of a big curtain serving as a stage wall is an open air theatre which is used for a few months each summer. It would be great to come back and see the theatre in all it's glory but it was wonderful to see it unadorned.
