The World's Biggest (1970's Style) Lampshade

We had a lovely day in Marrakech, taking a trip to Asni in the Atlas Mountains to visit a charity that we came across three years ago when we toured Andalucia & Morocco with The Anima Young Singers
The charity is called Education For All which provides education for girls in rural communities beyond primary school. Since we were there last, they have gone from two to four schools/residences and have had their first group of girls go on to university. It made us very happy to see how far they have come.

As for the photo, it was taken in the main courtyard of the Marrakech Museum, which was a nineteenth century palace belonging to a finance minister (I think). To show off his prestige and power, he had the world's largest lampshade made. When the Sultan heard about the magnificent lampshade, he grew very jealous and had his minister jailed on charges of cooking the books. (Morocco was ruled by the French at the time, who have form when it comes to the Monarchy taking exception to displays of conspicuous wealth by finance ministers.)
