Magical light

The light was beautiful in the garden this afternoon: someone had a bonfire going and the smoke tumbled into our garden for the sunlight to illuminate in shafts through the trees... but I was too busy mashing potatoes for that bit, so here's the bit just after the smoke faded - made a little bit magical by the wonder of lightroom tinkering!

Lovely day today. Marred only by my dodgy shoulder pain rearing its very ugly debilatating head. Normally TallGirl is called on to poke her pointy fingers into the heart of pain and she is now getting used to my screams of pain being a good sign... But today was more serious and, helpfully, Mr B's extra-strong fingers were nearby. Much pain resulted but I think less pain through the week as a result. One day I will actually have to focus on fixing this problem rather than just keeping it at bay - but this is not that day....

Instead, this was a day for decorating the tree which, despite Mr B's determinedly bored demeanour, was a family effort. And this year will only require minimal alteration from the kids' arrangement to get it to my liking (they're learning...) Later there was some sitting outside in the sunshine with a Mr B cosmo (in December!) and a roast chicken dinner. Always the easiest roast as it makes its own gravy. Amazing how taking that one small job away makes roast dinners stress free.
