Staff Christmas Do

4years 56days

I'm self employed. The office Christmas Party is not big. But its always good food and a happy time. Today we had it! We took a drive to York, Katie, myself and a friend for some festive fun. We started looking at decorations in the disney store. Katie and I rode the big merry go round. We then went for lunch. Katie has been so excited about this for the past week. I discovered after returning from australia that there is a Jamie Oliver's Italian in York. We were across the city centre a bit when i told her it was time to go for lunch. She literally ran the whole way she was that excited. We went in and were seated. The lady gave Katie her menu 3d viewer. I saw Katie's little face fall. She handed me the viewer. She'd had her heart set on one dish since she knew we were coming. My heart sank thinking it wasnt there. But there it was - a lovely picture of her favourite "Jamie's Spaghetti Bolognese". She refused to let the lady take the viewer away and refused to let anyone move it off from the spaghetti.

The food arrived and it was a huge bowl. She ate the lot. She just loves whatever it is they do their spaghetti bolognese! She then ate all her ice cream and stood beside the table as if to say "Ha. There. I will not be beaten by a bowl of pasta". She drew and coloured a fabulous Christmas tree picture before we headed to leave. She chose a Christmas bauble to buy and took it to pay. She's rather liking paying for things herself now.

We then headed to a charity Christmas fair. She won a Lightning McQueen rubber in the lucky dip. She was not amused. She won a lip balm in the tombola. She thought it was wonderful. She chose a new pair of Christmassy leggings to wear to one of nurserys many christmas events this week. We then headed to the Christmas market. I managed to get a few handmade Christmas gifts - including a couple for Katie's stocking without her realising! We stopped at Whittards and got a sample of the yummiest creme brulee hot chocolate before a few more of the market stalls.

We went to Asda, got her a drink of warm milk and several pairs of red tights for the days ahead. We got a back up costume for the ballet party on Saturday in case the one we ordered 3 weeks ago doesnt make it. She had a quick "car picnic" before we left for home. She was asleep by 5.45 and stayed asleep on arrival home .

Why she's exhausted
