An ordinary life....

Let the Decs meet the Tree!

Backblip

Up early as so much to do today!

David headed off to collect the tree. As it is a biggy (10 feet!) I suggested he took the tree stand to check it fitted to save him going back out afterwards for a tree stand. Sensible me :)) By good luck it fitted.

Home with it and after some farcical manoeuvring to get it trimmed, in the door and upright in the stand, it was declared a winner! I absolutely love that moment when the netting is cut and the branches all pop out with festive exuberance and the scent of fir tree fills the room. That when it begins to feel a lot like Christmas :))

Ladders out to decorate the top of the tree and five sets of lights later along with a gazillion decs, it was finally done. Cue one exhausted dad and a very chuffed mother and son.

The rest of the decs have to wait until tomorrow as D and I were heading out to a local restaurant for dinner to celebrate David's birthday (it's not till the 16th but other things are happening next Saturday ;-))

We had a fantastic time, in a cosy little restaurant (it's basically a tiny cottage with the two front rooms converted for eating. Only 4 tables in each room). The food was amazing and warm friendly service. Very special indeed. I suspect we've just started a new birthday tradition!
