Carry That Weight.

Southwark tube station is a beautiful, minimalist, galleried space. It's all cool and bright and gives a nod to some of the art deco stations like Southgate and Arnos Grove.

But I don't get why such a new station was designed with steps up from the platforms before you get to the escalator. There must be a logical reason which I am missing.

Elfin Safety presumably, but I cant see why.
