Schielandshuis ...

A wonderful day. Lots of sun from time to time and a temperature of about 8ºC. I was early in the city this morning. The sun rays fell between the high buildings and created brightly lit places and deep dark shadows on the street and buildings.

My eye was attracted by the Schielandshuis illuminated by the sunlight and so beautifully contrasted with the surrounding buildings in the shade. It is the only 17th century building that is still to be found in the center of Rotterdam.

The building is located on the Korte Hoogstraat. It was built between 1662 and 1665 for the Water Board Schieland.

It was difficult to choose between color and b/w. I chose for b/w while you can see soo beautifully the contrasting light. But judge for yourself. The colored version can be found here ... ;)
