O antiphons

Rick Bartow pastel at Froelick Gallery (detail). SOOC.

A Christmas sign is today's DDW-Mollymay challenge.

I looked for an O in honor of the O antiphons, best known these days in the popular Advent hymn "O come, O come, Emmanuel."

O Come, thou Wisdom from on high
O come, O come, thou Lord of might
O come, thou Branch of Jesse's tree
O come, thou Key of David, come

O come, thou Dayspring from on high,
and cheer us by thy drawing nigh;
disperse the gloomy clouds of night,
and death's dark shadow put to flight.

(The verse for today, Dec. 21--a good choice for the winter solstice!)

O come, Desire of nations
O come, O come, Emmanuel.
