Weeping broom flowers

This is a tree broom that grows naturally only in a very restricted area of Marlborough, in the north east of the South Island of New Zealand. It is Carmichaelia stevensonii. We have had our plants for a long time, and they have only begun to flower during the last few years. They are struggling among a thicket of other shrubs. I forget about them for most of the year, but when they flower they are spectacular. It makes me think I need to make some space around them, so that we can see them better.

I only noticed that this plant was flowering a couple of days ago, but there are lots more buds coming.
