Dangerous life as a cactus flower

I'm enjoying having the conservatory back for photography. The cacti are flowering now, too, so there is plenty of subject matter on a wet day without manipulating anything.

This cactus flower sits atop the prickly stem, and as its petals unfurl they risk rips from the profusion of vertical spines. Perfection is elusive.
