Red Alert

What a night - a severe weather warning was not wrong. We closed all windows and sat listening to the wind howling around us and worried about the next morning when brother and son#2 were due to fly home. This involved an early start only to find the electricity was out. Luckily we had a good supply of candles but we left for the aiport unwashed and dishevelled (well I did) - and no tea!

Every weather system known to man occured between here and Cork - rain, gales, hail, floods, sun, rainbows. The airport was heaving - all early morning flights had been delayed and a raft of flights were scheduled for 11.30. Son#2 joined the massive queue for departures and my brother and I availed of tea and toast. Similar mad weather on the way home, fortunately none of it lasting very long. Himself, son#1 and I have just been down to gasp at the waeather at Reenmore - something dramatic and different happening in every part of the sky. My poor brother is still at the aiport waiting the return of the Bristol flight which my son went out on. Luckily he had a masssive book for Christmas - 50 years of the National Theatre - he's up to the 60s!
Apart from the weather, it was a lovely Christmas- too much food, tons of pressies, lots of scrabble, some invigorating walks, a lot of lounging and the odd DVD. Hope it's all gone well with you.
