The Cat

Often, on a day like today, Foofie the cat will be sitting on one of our deck chairs watching and waiting for her humans to come out. This morning I was doing some work in the kitchen and was feeling sad because it was late in the morning and Foofie wasn't there, so she was obviously off to her other haunts. So I was a bit sad when I opened the back door for an entirely different reason.

My surprise came when, as if pushed by an explosion, out of her little cat cabin came a Foofie furball ready to accept all the affection her human could give her. She had been waiting in her warm cabin for the sound of the back door.

After enjoying a massage, purring plentifully and sampling her fresh dry cat food, she went on to her other destinations for the day.

The next time I looked out the kitchen window this couple is what I saw. It seems that Crested Blue Jays like dry cat food. So they took turns, one on watch and one eating its fill, then both flying to a nearby tree so they could trade duties and come back. A few cycles of that action, and they too were on their way.

Where was the cat during these festivities? Probably at the home of a neighbourhood gourmet cat restaurant eating her fill of the really good stuff.
