Swollen Mole

The normally peaceful little River Mole has subsided a lot since Christmas Eve when it did so much damage, but when we found it near Dorking it was still flowing very fast and noisily, well outside its natural river bed. For about five feet above the river the overhanging trees were snagged with twigs and leaves and it was hard to believe it had been so high. A little further downstream from this spot the Burford Bridge Hotel had been flooded and guests had to be evacuated.
It was a beautiful sunny day today, not cold, and it was good to get out. We wandered in the car around the Surrey lanes, pretty in the winter sunshine.
