H2Eau-ho-ho

Bottled water.

Water is today's DDW-Mollymay challenge.

This is the 21st century version of selling ice to Eskimos.
Pepsico and their ilk are selling us water.
Often the same water that comes out of our tap.
Sometimes distilled of its natural mineral content.
Sometimes in plastic bottles whose hydrocarbons leach into the contents.
Sometimes from a 'spring' whose source may contain arsenic, mercury, and other contaminants.
Instead of a stainless steel bottle we can reuse repeatedly, we are invited to drink our water from a plastic bottle that we can immediately add to the landfill. So convenient!

Lest ordinary water not lure us, we are promised 'super hydrating water'!
And if that is not enough, we can have 'herbal' water: ginger lemon peel, lemongrass mint vanilla, or cinnamon orange peel - all of it sparkling!

My favorite is the water shipped to America (reputedly favored by Barack and Michelle) all the way from the Fiji Islands, whose environmental claims have been debunked in the Telegraph:

"Some analysts claim that producing and delivering a litre of bottled water emits hundreds of times as much greenhouse gas as a litre of tap water."

Thirsty?
