Clearing skies

Our South African friends are staying with their daughter in Tunbridge Wells so we arranged to meet them for a pub lunch in Bletchingley, half way. The morning was quite wild with heavy rain and strong winds again, but there was no way we would cancel our date. There was a lot of standing water on the roads and evidence of fallen trees from the Christmas Eve storm, so we were pleased to reach the warmth of the pub and see our friends again. The pub was absolutely packed but we had booked a table, and had a long chatty lunch.
When we left the pub the sun was breaking through the scudding clouds and the rain had stopped.
