South Coast Scribblings

By SueSouth

End of the day - and 2013!

Had an awful day's weather today - not hugely windy, but rained all day until just before sunset. Hence this photo of a brief sunset before it went dark! And tomorrow's going to bring another humdinger of a storm along this south coast. Batten down the hatches and stay indoors I say! I've even already brought the gammon in from the fridge in the garage ready to cook tomorrow - so provided the power doesn't fail we're all set...

We had fun this afternoon re-watching all the fireworks from New Year 2010 onwards (in London). I'd left them lying on the Sky Box for years, so we thought we would re-watch the lot in one go. It was noticeable that from 2011 the fireworks were a lot more spectacular and were accompanied by music (2010 was silent apart from the bangs and oohs!) We also watched the fireworks from Sydney - thereby hangs a mystery. We watched them live on Paul's computer over lunch, then we watched them again recorded on the TV. And the music was different! We can only think they must set up different music for different localities when you watch on regional tv (we watched via youtube before and it was all Australian music that we weren't familiar with).

Really haven't done much serious stuff at all today other than cook lunch and Paul did most of that for me! He has an app on his new iPod touch that allows him to time every hob individually and the oven! He's a bit peeved that it doesn't include a second oven as we have a double oven. I swear he's hardly ever separated from the gadget - it has become part of him!

Anyway, a very Happy New Year to everyone!
