Storm Damage

The winter so far has been characterised by heavy rain and very strong winds. We have had four spells now of winds that have caused damage in the usual manner of fallen branches, but also a wall brought down at the side of the house and the chicken house being turned upside down one night. The new house is in quite an exposed spot looking over the River Tay with strong winds being funnelled right down the river.

With the Tay salmon season starting in just two weeks time, we could do with the rain stopping now, but as I sit here it's coming down very heavily at the moment, so no doubt there will be another rise in water levels over the next day or two.

Today saw me join many other people for a walk along the river in the grounds of the Hilton Dunkeld Hotel which is always a pleasant walk, especially when the weather means you don't want to do anything greater than just about one hour. This fallen tree was in the grounds of Dunkeld Cathedral, or if it wasn't a few days ago it certainly is now!
