Player extraction

This is a scene at the Boys' New Year's Day Ba' game, a traditional football/rugby/general melee that is played in the streets of Kirkwall every Christmas and New Years Day. The boys played first, at ten. Later I watched the men's' game which started at one o'clock. The players are split between the Uppies and the Doonies and they have to move the ball to a spot in the other side's territory. In this shot a lad has been squashed against a wall by the crowd for too long and his team-mates pull him out of the scrum. More here.
