Quod oculus meus videt

Simplifying Life

My New Year's resolution is to try and simplify things in life.

The march of technology, work and other commitments have led to a really complex lifestyle and I have noticed that I am layering greater complexity on to myself all of the time, I don't take the time to rationalise the way I do certain things and I now find myself with many that do similar functions, e.g. cloud accounts.

I am therefore starting to simplify those things I can, only accepting complexity when there is no other choice. For a technophile like me, this is proving difficult.

I've also realised that to survive on Blip I need to sometimes, make do. Tonight is a classic example. The weather is vile outside so there is no better thing to do than veg out in front of an old film. It scares me to realise that I have been watching this film for almost 50 years. I first remember seeing it on the first Monday afternoon of the summer school holidays in 1967 at the Gaumont Cinema in Birmingham. It was a Monday because it was the one weekday when Mom's hairdressing shop wasn't open. The fact that we returned each following Monday for the whole of the summer holidays is probably testament to my love of this film.

Hopefully the weather will be more conducive to photography tomorrow.
