Centimeter

A centimeter (cm) is a length of 0.01 meter = 10 mm.

Centi is an obsolete prefix (prefix) for "one hundredth", and comes not in the SI-system. Yet the cm, especially in daily life, still widely used. Centi comes from the Latin word centum ', ' hundred.

The centimeter is the usual unit for measuring in homely circumstances, such as body length, size of furniture, clothing and so on. In technical drawings is rather the millimeters.

A rollable tape measure in Dutch is also called "a centimeter".
It is amazing how the retractable tape measure in our lives is established. As already mentioned is he really inappropriately used. Just look around you. You can almost find anything where not a tape measure is used.
