Pan Ha' Dysart…before the storm..

Pan Ha' is the picturesque area of Dysart in Fife, about a mile from my home in Kirkcaldy. It stands by the sea, next to Dysart Harbour. I took this shot in the early afternoon. There has been a flood warning for this area of Fife today, but at the time I took this photograph all was well. However, should there be a surge in sea levels, this may be a vulnerable area.

Pan Ha' houses were built during the 16-18 centuries. They were originally seafarers homes serving the local harbours from where there was a considerable international trade, particularly with The Netherlands.

Today, the houses are very desirable properties, beautifully kept and maintained by their owners. I really like the way many of our old villages are retaining the best of the past while ensuring 21st century life thrives.
