Life As You Recount It

Art to start off the New Year

One thing I definitely wanted to do while in Manchester was see the Grayson Perry exhibition "The Vanity of Small Differences" at the Manchester Art Gallery. I've been fascinated with his work since I read about him last time I was living in the UK back in the early 2000s. The exhibition was well worth it. Not only were the tapestries vivid, colourful and technically complex, but the social commentary Perry makes is quite fascinating. I also enjoyed learning how he was influenced by William Hogarth’s A Rake’s Progress. I only wish I had been able to take some photos of the actual tapestries.
