The head of the loch

This is the point at which the River Ruel enters Loch Riddon . It is about a mile and a half from where I live.

The land on the west side of the river is pasture, though eroding into the river in places. However the land on the east side , part of my neighbour John McNaughton's farm, is boggy and the sands, when exposed, are (allegedly) very treacherous . It is also very prone to flooding and although I took this shot today a good two hours before high water the exceptional spring tides of this weekend are already making inroads.

It was a grey, damp day by that stage anyway. Achnagarron , the only fully visible house, has almost disappeared into the drizzle.
