All Saints

All Saints church was built in 1395 and became the parish church of Maidstone in 1549. It stands next to the Archbishop's Palace on the banks of the river Medway.

Here the church is in the background and in the foreground are the life-bouy and sign which are on the riverside walk on this side of the river. To the right are the metal steps from the pedestrian bridge which links Lockmeadow with the All Saints side of the river. Where I stood to take this shot was under a couple of feet of water last week and it's rising again today. The Medway isn't tidal at this point - the sea-lock is at Allington which is a mile or so downstream from here. I'd guess that the sluices there are fully open to shift this water through as quickly as possible as there are lots of local businesses which are trying to recover from being flooded and that's not easy while the threat of a repeat hangs over them.

The weekend wanes - Monday beckons; Let's grip it and rip it hombres!
