City Hall

Appearances can be deceptive. There may appear to be some blue sky when this photograph was taken, but in fact it has been raining most of the day, and this was a moment of comparative dryness.

The building shows Marischal College, the Aberdeen City Hall, with a hint of the statue of Robert the Bruce in front of the building. The rather darker grey building is Greyfriars Kirk, it is part of the same architectural complex but has not been refurbished as it is under different ownership. The church building is not used and was to be converted to offices. Hopefully it will be cleaned up to the standard of the rest of the Marischal College building.

In order to get as much of the church tower in the photograph as possible I had to include a lot of sky. I am not convinced now this was the right choice, and a lower angle might have worked better. I have an alternative view on Flickr.
