A fair wind

Cut the working day short to sneak off to Greenwich today, to meet a friend and see the Turner and the Sea exhibition at the National Maritime Museum. A very powerful collection of paintings, both by those by JMW (Joseph Mallord William) Turner and also by contemporary fellow artists who influenced him and with whom he competed for fame and acclaim.

Outside, on the edge of Greenwich Park, is this giant sized ship-in-a-bottle, once displayed on the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square, now permanently in Greenwich at the foot of the hill below the Royal Observatory.
