Wareham: view from a bridge over the Piddle

This was taken from the very bridge which figured in my blipfoto for 6th December, a month ago. Dorset is reported to be very badly hit by flooding at the moment, both inland and on the coast at Portland.

In this instance the Piddle's damage is very localised.

The photo was taken looking eastwards. The river Piddle is in full flow, with North Mill cottage on its right hand side. The cottage's garden has completely disappeared under water. According to the owner, the last time flooding was as bad as this was twelve years ago.
