Storm Waves breaking at Portland

I had to make atrip to Dorchester for a haircut and so as it was my last day of 'freedom' bfore work tomoorow i ventured on to Portland. Last night, the storm sirens were sounded to warn people to go to higher ground or upstairs rooms. The Cove Inn at the bottom of the photo was protected by shutters but the landlady described the might of the waves in an interview on Radio 4. Like others viewing the stormy seas she found it quite mesmeric.
I stopped for a cuppa at 'The Heights Hotel' where people had been evacuated to ; the view from their coffee lounge was literally the same as this - just a bit further back.
