Dog Stroll

The dogs and I took a long leisurely stroll as far as the Blue Loo in the Upper Taylor River tracks. We had bright sun one minute and cloud the next. In fact the cloud display was quite dramatic at times today. Here the dogs are pottering along the track while I capture images of the contrasting colours of the hills in the distance. The nearer hills on Meadowbank are now the colour and texture of soft golden velvet. They contrast sharply with the dark brooding mountain, The Ned, in the background.
Fergus is sniffing out things of interest through the tall fennel lining the river bank. Gyspy is examining an intriguing smell on the track. Such simple pleasures. It really is a dog’s life.
We had a dramatic change in the weather in the late afternoon. The wind swung around to the south and up came a big cold front absolutely loaded to the gunnels with thunder and lightning. It is a pity it was still daylight as the lightning display would have been amazing in the dark. The thunder cracked and grumbled and rolled languorously around the sky. Poor Fergus shivered and shook at each roll of thunder. He is such a sensitive soul. Gypsy could not have cared less and the cats were not all that fussed. A dramatic end to the day.......
