Scottish Flight Pioneers

This is a statue commemorating the Barnwell brothers (Harold and Frank) acheivement of a powered flight over a distance of 80 metres near Stirling in 1909, only a few years after the Wright brothers historic first flight.

The original statue was erected in 2005 in Causewayhead, Stirling in 2005 and was, as I recall, a fine granite statue. However sometime later some mindless vandals ripped a wing of of the statue which was then repaired.

I'm sure the new statue isn't granite and it's nowhere as impressive as the original granite statue....I hope the vandals who did the damage read this and as suitable ashamed of their actions.
